you booked a maternity session! here's what to expect:

Congratulations, mama! I hope you are feeling amazing (and if not, that's okay too). My job is to make you look amazing at your upcoming maternity session so let's go through what that will look like.

Those last few weeks of pregnancy can feel like years. You may feel a range of emotions and physical sensations during this time. As a mama who has "been there, done that" 3 times, I can assure you that no two pregnancies feel the same (gosh, no two days feel the same)!

I want you to be forthcoming with me about everything you're feeling leading up to your session.

  • Do you feel confident? Great, let's show you off!
  • Do you want to avoid highlighting a certain body part? Girl, I've been there.
  • Are your feet killing you? We'll make sure to plan a spot that doesn't require a lot of steps!

My goal is to make you look and feel beautiful and this all starts with communication. Thank you for entrusting me with capturing this intimate chapter -- it is such an honor.

If you haven't done so already, be sure to read the portrait session prep guide before your session and browse through the color palette inspo in this blog if you need some wardrobe ideas.

... Let's talk about the next one: the fourth trimester. Those first few days with a new baby are beautiful, life-changing, and (if I'm being honest) completely overwhelming! One of the best gifts you can give your later self is to schedule your newborn session during your second or third trimester. Together, we will plan all the details of your session before your little one arrives. Then 2-4 days after your baby's grand entrance, you'll send me a text so we can select a date.

The best time to take newborn portraits is when baby is 3-14 days old (up to 28 days works as well, particularly if Mama needs a little more recovery time after birth). If your baby requires a NICU stay, however brief, please reach out to me. NICU families have a special place in my heart since my youngest is a NICU grad.

As a thank-you for being an SV Family, maternity clients receive a 10% discount on their newborn session.
