More than a headshot:
10 types of photos we'll take at your brand session
"Headshots" and "branding photoshoots" are sometimes used interchangeably but in this post, I'll explain how headshots are just one piece of a comprehensive branding session.
A full brand gallery is one that looks less like a scroll-through of your past LinkedIn profile pics and more like opening a well-curated Pinterest board where...
- colors and style are cohesive
- you can easily grasp the theme
- there's a mix of wide and detail shots
- you sense movement and energy
- the vibe is palpable
That's a branding gallery. If you're a visual learner like me, here's an example:
See the difference?
If you're working for a company that does not allow you to build a personal brand apart from strict company parameters, a headshot session is probably all you need. But if you are trying to reach your clients by making a personal connection, a branding session is the way to go.
My branding galleries are thoroughly planned and thoughtfully curated to give you a gallery of versatile images for use in marketing that will ease the burden of planning content for months to come.
It's so much more than just a million photos of your pretty face. It's you AND all the things that make up your business. Imagine how good it will feel to open a folder on your computer that is basically your very own stock photo gallery?!
So let's jump in. Here are the 10 types of images I get at almost every brand session:

1. Modern headshot
This is simply you looking and smiling at the camera. Attire (and background) can be suited to your sector and I can absolutely give advice on this if you don't know where to start.

2. Lifestyle
This is you in your element. Comfortable, casual, personable.

3. flatlays
Think of flatlays like your very own custom stock images. But they're so much better than stock images because they're genuine to you and your business.

4. vignettes
Vignettes are like mini scenes that tell a story. These are great for use on websites, especially, to break up text on a page.
5. client interraction
If you have a people-oriented business, then I will absolutely want to include models in your session. Your next client wants to see what you're like when interacting with someone like them!
6. celebration
What's the next big thing coming up for you personally or professionally? Let's go ahead and create an image so you're ready to post about it!

7. Behind the scenes
BTS images put people at ease. They let us see behind the curtain and humanize your business. This can be as simple as pulling out a dayplanner or opening up your laptop.

8. tools of the trade
Whether you're a makeup artist, therapist, florist, or dentist... you have tools of the trade! Let's show them off.

9. Tech Mockups
If you love digging into Canva and creating your own graphics, you're gonna love this one. A black screen can be a great place to add text, your logo, or even a video.
10. Personality & emotion
Who are you on your best day? Let's celebrate the real you!
Bonus: environmental
Fun fact, I did a stint in real estate photography when I was first deciding where my photography passion was going to land... and it turns out this skill benefits my branding clients tenfold who have their own space! (Yep, people DO look at those photos of your business on Google and it DOES matter what those photos look like!)
