Ok now to the good stuff - Your plan of action for 2025

Social media is literally designed to be addicting. It's why planning your next Reel or designing something in Canva for a carousel feels way more productive - and certainly more fun - than researching the best email service provider. But if after reading about the "horror stories" in the first article, you're ready to take control of your marketing in 2025, this is where we're going. Let's do it together.

From the last article, here's where we're landing this plane... these are the places where I believe business owners should put their best creative efforts in 2025:

  1. โœ‰๏ธ Email
  2. ๐Ÿ’ป Website SEO
  3. ๐ŸŽง Long form content - blogs, podcasts (i.e. "new radio")

My marketing pathway from seo to social (but first, a few definitions)

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) = I know it can sound scary but it's exactly what it sounds like. How easy is it for a search engine to scan your website and determine what you're about? I've been writing copy for a commercial company since 2018 and here's the truth: Write for people and you're writing for search engines. All that copy you've already written on Instagram posts? Yeah it's not doing much for you. Dump those words in a blog, add some keywords, tweak them so they're "evergreen," and BOOM you're well on your way to being an SEO queen.

Keywords = Words that people search for in order to find your business. Not sure what yours are? Ask friends and family exactly what they would type into Google to find a business or provider in your sector. Sprinkle these words into your copy. For example, here I go... I'm a commercial & personal brand photographer in Spring Texas who loves helping small business owners improve their marketing through high quality photography and videography. (Ok that was kinda forced but you get the idea ๐Ÿ˜‰)

Email Service Provider vs. Email Marketing Platform = You probably already have an email service provider (think: Gmail or similar). An email marketing platform is one that allows you to send direct mass emails to your clients. There are many best practices when it comes to email marketing but the only one I'm going to cover here is no you should not take your entire Gmail address book and dump it into MailChimp. That's a good way to find yourself in the spam folder and that definitely won't help our goals. The most popular platform among creatives is Flodesk but she pricey. I'm using the free version of MailerLite and it's doing everything I need it to do thus far! There's a bit of a learning curve but if it's any encouragement - people statistically make big purchases from their computer (not their phone) and the majority of my email openers do so from a computer. I largely attribute my [amazingly successful] 2024 Christmas Minis launch to this one shift I made in my business last year.

Ok now we're ready to roll:

Here's my exact pathway from long form content ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿ‘‰ to social media as well as how to hit all three of these places with less effort than you're probably spending making Reels. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ Seriously.

  1. Jot down a "big idea" for your next launch - What's the thing you want to talk about to your ideal clients in the next 30+ days? For me, this ends up like an old-school 8th grade outline in a Moleskin notebook on my kitchen island. Really. That's how this series started.
  2. Schedule a deep work time block - I'm sitting at Common Desk co-working space in Spring currently. I blocked out 9am-2pm to do everything I'm about to share with you in one fell swoop. (You better believe I packed a LOT of snacks.)
  3. โœ… Website SEO โœ… Spend the first half of your time writing blogs or record podcasts - If going the podcast route, be sure to have an AI tool convert this to copy. You're going to put all of this blog/transcript copy on your website. If nobody but a search engine reads this blog, that's okay because we ain't even close to done with it.
  4. โœ… Email Marketing โœ… Chop up the copy into an email series for your next launch - Pull this into your email marketing platform and start scheduling emails with the same copy you already wrote. I usually make minimal tweaks (i.e. saying "in the next email" vs saying "in the next article). Do you see where this is going? A blog post is longer than an email. And an email is longer than a...
  5. โœ… Social Media Post โœ… You already decided what you want to talk about for the next 30+ days, you've sent it to your email subscribers, so now it's time to trickle that same copy into batch-creating posts!

What questions do you have? Submit a contact form or DM me on Insta and I'd love to talk with you more about any of it! Happy marketing!

P.S. If you're wondering why sharing all my marketing secrets...

It's because I believe a picture is worth 1,000 words and successful businesses moving forward are going to need solid, professional images on their website and in their email campaigns. Sure it's fun to include an occasional snapshot to keep it personal but tell me the last time you made a big purchase from a b-level website... just looks scammy, right?

Professional photography and videography elevates your brand and helps you visually communicate who you are and what you do. If this is all new to you and you're on a budget, you're going to love branding + headshot minis which are NOW OPEN FOR BOOKING in February.
