you booked a senior session! here's what to expect:

Hey grad, congratulations!

Senior sessions mark a significant milestone in a person's life. Whether graduating from high school, college, graduate school, or a doctoral program, your achievement is worth commemorating with a portrait session.

This session typically features the person of honor -- the graduate -- along with props, places, and/or people that have been a significant part of his or her journey.

Here are a few items and props that can be incorporated into your portraits. Hopefully this will get your creativity flowing as you set aside items to bring to your session!

  • Letter jacket
  • Cap & gown, tassels, medals, stoles
  • Musical instrument
  • Athletic equipment
  • Items associated with your favorite hobbies (for ex, painting supplies, camera, scouting badges, fishing gear, favorite books, etc.)
  • Excited about the next chapter? Bring a university t-shirt or an item associated with your new career.
  • Framed kinder graduation photo

Bring all props in a water-resistant bag or basket in case it needs to be set on the ground.

Hope you're ready to have fun because senior sessions are all about celebration and I, for one, plan to celebrate you!

I highly recommend bringing a trusted sidekick (parent or friend) to help carry props and help with your session.

If you haven't done so already, be sure to read the portrait session prep guide before your session and browse through the color palette inspo in this blog if you need some wardrobe ideas.
